The folk painting art class held at Ikseon Art Center provides an opportunity to reinterpret the beauty of Korean tradition with a modern sensibility. This class goes beyond simple drawing and explores the deep symbolism and historical background of folk painting, providing a special opportunity to experience traditional Korean art from a new perspective.


Under the friendly guidance of a professional instructor, learn the techniques and symbols of folk painting and complete your own creative work. The class provides an opportunity to learn basic folk painting techniques and express your own style based on them. The instructor provides detailed feedback tailored to each individual’s personality and level, so even beginners can participate without worry.

Instructor Introduction


Artist Kim Han-seon is a folk painting expert who is active in the Korean and international art world. The artist completed a master's degree in Communication Design at Pratt Institute in New York and also completed the AOS course in graphic design. The artist graduated from Ewha Womans University and Seolchon Next Generation Folk Painting Top Leader Course and completed Kyunghee University's Creative Folk Painting Specialist Course. He is currently the president of Seolchon Creative Folk Painting Research Association and a member of Minsuhoe, the Korean Fine Arts Association, and the Korean Professional Artists Association, contributing to the development of Korean folk painting.


Artist Kim Han-seon has won numerous awards in the field of folk painting, including an Excellence Award at the 2021 Kim Satgat Cultural Festival National Folk Painting Competition, and was selected as an IAA selected artist in 2024. In addition, he has achieved achievements such as an encouragement award and an award at the Republic of Korea Folk Painting Exhibition, and his works are housed in the Joseon Folk Painting Museum.


As for exhibition activities, he participated in major exhibitions such as the World Art Expo and the Korean Folk Painting Art Fair in 2024, the Proposal Exhibition for 21st Century Folk Painting Creation and the Prospect Exhibition of Korean Folk Painting in 2023, and he also presented his works in international exhibitions such as the Cebu Visayas Art Fair and the Taiwan Art Fair.


Artist Kim Han-seon's works contribute to opening new horizons in folk painting that encompass both tradition and modernity, and his works play an important role in exploring the depth and breadth of folk painting.
