🎨 Into the charm of folk painting: A special class at Ikseon Arts Center 🌟
The folk painting class held at Ikseon Art Center provides an opportunity to reinterpret the beauty of Korean tradition with a modern sensibility. This class goes beyond simple painting and explores the deep symbolism and historical background of folk painting, providing a special opportunity to experience traditional Korean art from a new perspective.
Under the friendly guidance of a professional instructor, learn the techniques and symbols of folk painting and complete your own creative work. The class provides an opportunity to learn basic folk painting techniques and express your own style based on them. The instructor provides detailed feedback tailored to each individual’s personality and level, so even beginners can participate without worry.

Instructor Introduction
Maggie Kim is an artist who reinterprets the delicate beauty of modern folk paintings with a modern perspective. She is furthering her academic depth at the Department of Oriental Painting, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Hongik University, and completed the Folk Painting Specialist Course at Kyunghee University Graduate School in 2022. She is currently studying under artist Seolchon Jeong Ha-jeong and expanding her own artistic realm.
Maggie Kim has been prominent in the field of folk painting several times, and won the grand prize at the 11th Daegal Cultural Festival at the Gahoe Folk Painting Museum in 2023. In the same year, she won the Encouragement Award at the 9th Korean Folk Painting Exhibition held by the Korean Folk Painting Museum, and a special selection at the 43rd International Contemporary Art Exhibition. In 2022, she won the Encouragement Award at the 6th National Folk Painting Competition held by the Korean Folk Painting Promotion Association.
Maggie Kim's works have been introduced in various exhibitions, and in 2024, she participated in the 'Globalization of Folk Painting' and 'Happiness through Folk Painting' exhibitions at Gallery Index, and also exhibited her work in the 10th Daegalhwa Exhibition at Gahoe Folk Painting Museum. In 2023, she exhibited her work at the 5th Folk Painting Art Fair held at SETEC, the 2nd Seoul Art Fair, and the 'Proposal Exhibition for the Creation of 21st Century Folk Painting' at Gyemjae Jeongseon Art Museum.
Currently, he is a member of the Daegalhwa Society, the Korean Art Association, and the Korean Folk Painting Association, and holds an art teacher’s license and a level 1 folk painting instructor’s license. The artist’s works are a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, and focus on exploring new possibilities in folk painting.
