The doll hanbok and fabric painting classes offered at Ikseon Arts Center provide an opportunity to reinterpret the depth of traditional Korean art with a modern sensibility. This class is a special time to deeply understand the beauty and culture of Korea through the delicate techniques of painting on fabric and the process of making traditional doll hanbok, beyond simple art activities.


Under the careful guidance of professional instructors, learn the techniques of fabric painting and the details of doll hanbok, and complete a piece that shows off your creativity. Starting with basic techniques, you will have the opportunity to express your own style, and the instructor will provide individual feedback to help even beginners participate with confidence.

Instructor Introduction


Hanny Hong is an artist and educator who connects tradition and modernity, and introduces the beauty of traditional Korea to the world through unique craft designs. Hong graduated from Ewha Womans University’s College of Education and majored in craft design at Ewha Womans University’s Graduate School of Design. Her skills were recognized when she won awards for her Shibori dyeing works at the Fukuoka Asian Craft Exhibition in Japan twice.

 

She has successfully held a total of seven solo exhibitions in New York and Seoul, and has been actively participating in various group exhibitions both domestically and internationally. She also holds various qualifications such as Hanbok Technician, Tailor Technician, and Fashion Illustration, and has taught at 50 centers including Lotte and Hyundai Cultural Center and 11 locations, as well as local lectures, to spread the beauty of traditional crafts and fashion to many people.

 

Currently, she is teaching doll hanbok classes at Bukchon Cultural Center, passing on the sophistication and beauty of traditional hanbok to the next generation.
